Medical Research

Published 23/11/2012

In line with our donor's original wishes, the William Leech Charity has committed to granting one third of our annual income to medical research. The trustees approved a resolution that for the future our committment would be to leading edge research in the field of genetics. Consequently we have agreed to fund the Institue of Human Genetics in Newcastle University at The Centre for Life and their Director, Prof P.Chinnery, has kindly agreed to become a trustee to give guidance and report progress.

At the same time to continue with Sir Williams wishes to support theology, we welcome to the Board of Trustees Dr D.Wilkinson, principal of St.Johns College, Durham University, where the charity has already provided The Leech Hall, a major meeting and teaching centre
